17 Day Diet

Even after training and running a half marathon on 3/18/12, I still had ten pounds to lose (it's all there in my belly). So we started the 17 Day Diet on the morning of March 21, 2012 which means the first 17 day cycle will end on Good Friday.  It's great timing to do this during Lent, as we had already given up sweets anyway.  We do have one planned meal "cheat" on March 30th due to a fancy event we will be attending.  
Starting weights: 1x7 for me and 1x8 for Phil. 
Maybe one day I'll replace that x with the real number, but I'm not feeling so brave about it today.

Day One
B: Hot water with lemon, 2 eggs
S: Green tea, greek yogurt with raspberries
L: Salad with veggies, green tea
S: Strawberries
D: Grilled chicken on a spinach salad, green tea

Walked a couple miles - no energy.
Felt slightly dizzy and foggy all day.

Day Two
B: Hot water with lemon, greek yogurt and fruit smoothie
S: Green tea, apple
L: Salad with tuna and veggies
S: Green tea
D: Stuffed peppers (turkey, spinach, onions, spices, little reduced fat blue cheese), green tea
S: Sugar-free yogurt

Ran 4 miles - was tough.
Still felt a little foggy brained.

Day Three
B: Hot water w/ lemon, Eggs scrambled with spinach, red pepper, onion and garlic
S: Coffee, plain greek yogurt w/ strawberries
L: Cauliflower soup w/ roasted red pepper puree
S: Blueberries
D: Eggplant, spinach, mushroom, tomato and onion "lasagna"
S: Sugar free yogurt, green tea

7.5 miles on elliptical - felt good.
Felt much better today, lean and strong.


Day Four
B: Hot water w/ lemon, Eggs scrambled with spinach, red pepper, onion and garlic (and a sprinkle of cheese)
S: Coffee, plain greek yogurt w/ strawberries
L: Leftover lasagna (above)
S: Blueberries, green tea
D: Chipotle Yogurt marinated chicken - grilled kabob style with red peppers, onions and tomatoes
S: Sugar free yogurt, green tea

Hour Kickboxing and Toning Class
Felt good, not like a diet at all!

Day Five
B: Hot water w/ lemon, plain greek yogurt with sliced strawberries, coffee
S: 2 eggs scrambled with spinach, onions, red peppers, turkey sausage and garlic (it was Sunday brunch)
L: Apple, homemade kale chips, cappuccino (not strictly diet...but a small homemade one)
D: Roast chicken, steamed broccoli, tomato/cucumber/onion salad
S: Sugar-free yogurt, green tea

Spinning class and light abs
Felt tired, but more from lack of sleep than diet related.

5 Day Weight Update:
Colleen lost 6 pounds. 
Phil lost 9 pounds. 
The nerve ;)

Day Six
B: Hot water w/ lemon, coffee, 2 egg muffins (each had one egg, one turkey sausage, peppers, onions and spinach)
S: plain greek yogurt w/ strawberries, green tea
L: Chicken and veggie soup
S: Blueberries, green tea
D: Taco salad
S: Sugar free yogurt, green tea

Ran four miles then did hour toning class (mostly lunges)
Felt super!

Day Seven
B: Hot water w/ lemon, 2 eggs
S: Coffee, plain greek yogurt with strawberries
L: Salad (lettuce, spinach, tomatoes, onions, carrots, cucumbers) w/ tuna
S: Apple, green tea
D: Grilled chicken w/ steamed broccoli
S: Sugar-free yogurt, green tea

Rest Day
Not feeling as tired as I used to, plus sleeping better!

Day Eight
B: 2 egg "muffins" (forgot to drink lemon water!)
S: plain greek yogurt w/ strawberries and chia, coffee
L: chicken and veggie soup
S: blueberries, green tea
D: ground turkey and veggies stuffed peppers
S: sugar-free yogurt, green tea

Ran 4 miles and 1 hour toning class
Felt lean and energized and happy!

Day Nine
B: 2 egg "muffins", hot water w/ lemon
S: plain greek yogurt w/ strawberries and chia, coffee
L: leftover stuffed pepper
S: blueberries, green tea
D: grilled chicken, roasted veggies, stuffed mushrooms
S: sugar-free yogurt, green tea

Rest Day
People are really noticing the weight loss, and my clothes are fitting so much better!

Day Ten
B: Hot water w/ lemon, 2 eggs, grapefruit
S: coffee, "morning delight" (plain greek yogurt, fresh strawberries, chia seeds)
L: Salad
S: green tea
D: CHEAT MEAL (This has been planned since day one) - Fish, veggies, potatoes, and dessert!

Ran 5.5 miles
Felt ok, but haven't lost weight in two days so not too happy about that :(

Day Ten Weight Update:
Colleen lost 7 pounds total
Phil lost 11 pounds total

Days Eleven and Twelve
After the cheat meal last night, we basically started off the weekend on the wrong foot.  We ate pretty good until dinner both nights when we had carbs in our meal and dessert afterwards.  No exercise at all on Saturday and ran 5 miles on Sunday.  Felt lousy and foggy headed.

Day Thirteen
B: Hot water w/ lemon, 2 egg "muffins"
S: Coffee, morning delight w/ chia
L: Salad with veggies, green tea
S: oops, nada.
D: Chicken tortilla soup minus the tortilla
S: sugar-free yogurt

Ran 3 miles and did hour toning class
Felt foggy headed and tired

Day Fourteen
B: Hot water w/ lemon, 2 egg "muffins"
S: Coffee, morning delight w/ chia
L: Chicken tortilla soup minus the tortilla
S: green tea
D: Grilled Chicken Oriental Salad and Mozzarella Sticks from Applebees (so so cheated)
S: sugar-free yogurt

Rest Day
Felt guilty for dinner, but not as bad as I would have thought.

Day Fifteen
B: 2 egg muffins, coffee
S: Sugar-free yogurt
L: Chicken soup
S: green tea, apple
D: Grilled chicken, grilled zucchini, grilled onions
S: 6 cheese ravioli from the kid's leftovers :(

 Ran 6.6 miles
Felt slightly foggy headed again.  It always happens when I eat carbs and then stop.  Not good.

Day Sixteen
B: 2 eggs, coffee
S: apple, green tea
L: Salad with tuna
S: green tea
D: Turkey burgers, salad
S: Sugar-free yogurt
